A Piece of Floral History
I’m simply elated that I‘m the proud owner of the iconic table that Mrs. Markel, aka The Floristry on Delaware Ave, designed on for 55 years. It wasn’t my desire to purchase inventory from her “going out of business sale” but my desire was to own a piece of the history that Fann Markel created in the Buffalo floral industry. This is not just a work space but a spot where great care was taken to honor her clientele’s happy and sad life events over decades.
Mrs. Markel’s take on fresh flowers, her fierce attitude and her creations of beauty and elegance put her in a class alone. The closing of The Floristry is the end of an era. Fann Markel’s design table will now reside in The Flower Stand’s studio. She told me I should cherish my husband, my children, and my grandchildren but not to cherish her table. Easier said than done.
